It is something that you can take advantage off. Where as German BB secondaries can get some additional utility by packing IFHE specifically to increase the deadliness of their 150 mm secondaries, which tends to make them even more of a terror for nearby DD's and Cruisers, though against other BB's it will gain you some but in secondary only fight the IJN BB's will still win, It can be very very effective but subtle advantage.

One of the considerations for having IJN commanders with demo expert is to improve the fire chance of the lighter secondaries. IJN BB's depend on simply causing raw damage with their secondaries with the 100-127mm AAA in secondary mode to start fires. German Secondaries are more over all use full, but against other BB's they depend upon starting fires. A Nagato in a secondary fight with a Bismark will survive with 1/3 to 1/2 it's health left (and some nasty fires that need to be put out) when the Bismark sinks. Not so handy against DD's but murderous against Cruisers and other Battleships.īut 3 out of the 2 regular and 2 premium German BB's at tier 7 and 8 carry torpedo's and that is a bit of a discouragement when it comes to moving into "oh Crap" range with them. But IJN BB's pack a mixed battery with 140 mm + guns that fire AP. US BB's mount 127mm secondaries so they also fire HE only. unless the target is lightly armored ship such as Destroyers and Cruisers. And the typical longer range of German secondaries is also a factor. German BB's don't have the "Best" secondaries in the game. All thet point blanks 140 to 155 mm shooting AP messes german BB's up especially at the range your going to have to do this sort of thing at, Your IJN secondaries on your IJN BB's will rip the snot out of German BB much faster then those German BB's secondaries will rip the snot out of you!. WHat it works out to, and I've checked the result in game with other players. It's part of their "Flavor"Īnd surprisingly it presents a small advantage to IJN Battleships. I believe the default on secondaries is if it's larger then 140mm it fires AP, but, the German ships are special case.
